Corporate Team Building events might sound like a new term to you, but I can assure you that this is nothing new! In fact, if you have a business or a company and you’ve been noticing that you have a team that is starting to get overwhelmed with their workload, or they are starting to drag their feet (literally) or you even notice that some team members have interpersonal office issues with other members of the team; corporate team building events are a good option to consider looking into. Really, these are just team outings. Yeah, outings outside the office. It gives your team a chance to take a break, have some fun, and maybe even work out some issues they have between each other. Karaoke Night
If you have some extroverted people working for you – the ones that are shy or have a hard time breaking out of their cozy little shells, this is a great way to have fun and get them to cut loose. You can also consider making this a little more competitive and having a contest for the best group or individual karaoke performance. If you really want to get them out of their comfort zone, consider adding extra points for people that dress up or get into costume for the song they are going to sing. This seems like a really silly thing, but that’s sort of the point! Just make sure that everyone is having fun.
Race Car Driving
This is a really cool corporate team building event and it’s something that some of your team members may find really exciting. Not only is this a good way to get the adrenaline pumping and put a smile on their face, but you can also create a competition to see who comes in first place. There are all sorts of cars you can drive, depending on the event and where it’s located, but I’ve seen F1 racing cars, stock racing cars like you see in Daytona, and I’ve also seen some really cool cars like Ferraris being used in these race car driving events.
Scavenger Hunts
This may seem a little juvenile, but it can be a lot of fun IF you plan it right. You can either plan it yourself or use a site like Stray Boots to create the scavenger hunt for you. Make sure it’s on a nice sunny day and include different parts around the city to make it a little more challenging and fun. Each “team” should have a group of 5-10 people in it for the scavenger hunt. Make sure that you create some sort of a prize for the group that finds the treasure first or finishes the hunt first.
Kayaking/Canoeing
This is a great team building exercise because it’s a team sport. You need several people in the canoes or kayaks and you need them to be able to work together when it comes to turning in different directions, reversing, going forward, etc. A lot of outdoor companies offer you the ability to rent several canoes, paddles and life preservers for all of your people and they also include a tour guide to help them get up and down the river or whatever body of water you are using. It’s fun, it’s relaxing, gets the adrenaline pumping and you absolutely need to work together as a team.
Paint Ball
Ah paintballing! This is a favorite of mine when it comes to friends and hanging out, but it’s also a really cool idea for your team members that work for/with you. Just don’t forget that you also need to get in on the fun, even if it means getting shot in the butt with a paintball. Hey, it’s all in the name of fun! Two teams, usually in groups of 5-15, have to fight against each other using paint ball guns or in some cases depending on the event, they may be responsible for keeping an objective safe. If you get shot with a paint ball, you are out of the game! Most places that offer paint balling can rent you the equipment, guns and give you a discount on the paintballs.
